On Wednesday night, at the Governor General’s Camp in Canberra, the Jamboree Flag of Friendship was officially passed from Scouts Victoria to Scouts Queensland in preparation for AJ2025. The Flag of Friendship is traditionally passed from the current hosting state to the next at the Jamboree closing ceremony, when the location of the next Jamboree is officially announced. However, since AJ2022 never officially took place, Victoria was unable to present Queensland with the flag at the time. With the 26th Australian Jamboree fast approaching, Chief Commissioner of Queensland Geoff Doo was delighted to receive the flag in front of 2000 Scouters, from Joeys to Rovers, and their Leaders. Also on hand were youth members Edith, Lily and Noah who represented Scouts Queensland during the ceremony. AJ2025 Chief Director Ryan Sodziak reflected on the tradition of the flag’s handover in the lead up to a Jamboree. “The handover of the Jamboree Flag of Friendship symbolises the enduring spirit of unity in Scouting, connecting Scouts across Australia through shared values and a collective commitment to peace and goodwill,” Sodziak said.

The Governor General offered Scouts a once in a lifetime opportunity to camp on the lawns of Government House, and take on an action packed week of activities in a week long, mini-Jamboree-like camp. Sodziak had an exciting message to share with those looking forward to attending the Jamboree. “To all the enthusiastic youth and dedicated adults planning to attend AJ2025: Prepare yourselves for an incredible journey of adventure, learning, and friendship. Embrace every challenge, cherish each new friendship, and seize the abundant opportunities to grow and make a positive impact. This Jamboree is not just an event; it's a celebration of your potential and a testament to the Scout spirit that unites us all. Let's come together to make AJ2025 a milestone of memorable experiences and personal achievements.”
