There are many exciting adventurous activities to participate in at the 26th Australian Jamboree, and our teams are busy making sure they’re ready for Scouts the moment they get onsite. To make sure they’re up to the highest standard, some activities have even been tested by our very own AJ2025 Camp Chief Geoff Doo, or “Chief”.
Despite his busy schedule of Jamboree preparations, Chief took the opportunity this morning to test out part of the Your Summit activity. He abseiled and ziplined high above the Maryborough Showgrounds, our new home for the 10 days of AJ2025.
After his experience this morning, Chief had a message for all those attending Jamboree, especially those who may be apprehensive about trying new things or facing some fears. “It’s a really great opportunity to test your limits and to try something you’ve never done before. I have never done abseiling before and it was wonderful to be supported by a great bunch of people up the top to get me down! I’m terrified of heights myself so that was a challenge for me personally but it was a really good experience.”
Chief wears many hats within Scouting. Other than his sunsmart hat, he also wears his Chief Commissioner of Scouts Queensland hat - when he’s not wearing an abseiling helmet!
