Your Summit is the official name for the activity but, after the recent rain, it has been nicknamed ‘canoeing’. Even with the wet conditions, the Scouts participating in The Summit climbing activities are most certainly enjoying themselves. Their ratings for the activity ranges from 9/10, due to having to stand in lines, to 11/10 for the best activity yet. Everyone is loving every activity offered with ziplining, abseiling, monkey climb and crate stacking.

While standing in line waiting for their turn, the Scouts are enjoying listening to the provided music or playing hand clapping games. However, in activities, the Scouts are building teamwork skills while belaying for their patrol members on the crate stacking or monkey climb. The activities help teach the Scouts not just leadership and trust but how to work in a team.

For Scouts who are looking for a challenge, Your Summit pushes you out of your comfort zone to do things you haven’t done before, especially if you have a fear of heights. One nervous Scout’s friend, Hannah (C028), was encouraging them by singing “oompa loopma doompa-dee-do you can do it, I believe in you” while they were at the top of the tower preparing to abseil down.

Young Scout Matilda from FC057 said she is “having so much fun, 10/10” and “it’s scary but rewarding”. While Zain from unit FC028 says he would “definitely do it all again.” Venturer, Caitlin, who is working on the activity, says even though it’s hot, it’s a great job to have.

So, if you’re looking for an activity to push yourself or to gain some teamwork skills, Your Summit is the place for you.
