Up bright and early, Patrol 4 “Team Rocket” from FC045 got out of their tents as soon early as 4:45am to start getting ready for breakfast. For the first meal, Patrol 4, led by Patrol Leader Matthew and Assistant Patrol Leader Lachlan, cooked everyone pancakes and served them cereal. As an extra thing to have with breakfast, coffees were brewed by Hamish, which he loved so much he promised to start making them each morning. So maybe some of you will learn a new cooking skill on your Duty Day, and it will stick for not only the Jamboree but well into your future!

While part of Team Rocket’s duties was to serve wraps to their onsite Unit members and go out to The Corner Store to pick up groceries, they also got to experience some onsite fun as well. Your Choice is open for all Duty Patrol Scouts to have some fun, trading badges, woodworking, or even try some escape rooms at Your Puzzle.

Near the end of the day the Patrol prepared some lovely quesadillas for the group, and four Service Leader guests were lucky enough to be invited for dinner on a night with such a well prepared meal. Asking around the camp, this meal was very popular, maybe even a favourite of the Jamboree. Scouts said the “quesadillas were solid” and were “very good” and that the meal had a “good spread” of ingredients. Another Patrol member from an earlier Duty Patrol Day, Dixon, said it was a “great use of the ingredients given.” Not only were the Scouts and guests very happy, but the Leaders were so impressed by Team Rocket, they gave them all a round of applause, and awarded APL Lachlan 3 badges for his great efforts. To say thank you to the Duty Patrol, Line Leader Wayne asked all the other Patrols to help grab the ice cream and peaches from The Corner Store and wash the cooking utensils for them.

Team Rocket has some words of advice and some highlights that can maybe convince you to get excited! The highlight for many of the Patrol was getting to eat seconds and thirds of the meals they cooked and serving extra ice cream to themselves. Matthew and Theo agreed that was lunch wasn’t too hard to make, and everyone agreed that overall, the day was quite relaxed and lacking stress. Lachlan suggested that while Duty Patrol is awesome, “be prepared for chaos.” Therefore, just like Matthew, Lachlan, Hamish, Elise, Paige and Theo, you can have a great day, even when on Duty. See you in the next one, Scouts!
