Hey Readers! Did you know that on the night of the Country Hoe Down, many Scouts at the Mini Arena were trading the Hokey-Pokey and line dancing for Monopoly and Scrabble instead?

Well, in fact, AJ’s Biggest Board Game lived up to its name so well that, despite a lack of tables to fit all the players, they adapted and kept on with their games on the floor! Like every Mini Arena event, the games were open from 6pm-9:30pm, and cards were dealt, dice were rolled, and monopoly pieces were thrown in anger. CJ from Unit C027 who was playing Scrabble while the Hoe Down was still echoing around the site said that although they “[could] barely hear each other, it’s still fun.”

Other games that many enjoyed included the likes of Cluedo, Muffin Time, Chameleon, Block Party, Herd Mentality and Guess Who. Scouts were also able to purchase drinks, chips and lollies from a small concession stand near the Mini Arena’s stage, no doubt keeping many up to play till close. Lucie from FC052 and Charlotte from T001, who only met that night, played Dumb Questions to Ask Your Friends with some others and said that “it was really funny to see how well we knew each other and [we] got to learn about a new friend too.”

Overall, AJ’s Biggest Board Game was a great success in bringing the Scouts together for a night of fun. Lots came in alone and left with a new big group of friends from all over the country, and maybe even the world! See you in the next one, readers!
