All the Stalls in the Mall

Words by Xavier Perdriau

Hey Scouts! Are you looking for some morning fuel to really get you going, some afternoon tea to help you on your travels, or maybe a dessert to end the day with? Look no further than the Mall, a centre of all the best food vendors in town, situated in between two sides of contingent headquarters. Join me, and hopefully you can find the stalls best for you and have a wonderful time at the Mall.

‘Puppycinos’ and ‘Bark-istas’

To begin your journey, you can get a hot chocolate to start the day, or an iced drink to start your brain! The first shop found at the North entrance of the Mall, called Grey Nomad’s Coffee, has been appearing at events since it was first started by retired couple Ron and Kay. Offering a wide range of hot and cold drinks, baked goods and toasties, it’s no wonder the stall has been a favourite for many a Scout.

Need a Boost?

As you’re walking down the Mall, you may notice a familiar face, as you spot the Australian staple of fresh juice. Boost, have a local “Mobeel” with their famous smoothies and juices that has been brought on up to keep all you thirsty Scouts happy.

Give a little, get a lot (of ice) in return

On your journey down The Mall, the heat is likely to get to you, and the best defence against it is none other than ice! Pop by the snow cone and fairy floss stall, curtesy of Woombye Scout Parents Ryan and Nicole, for a refreshing beverage or snack. With fresh fairy floss ready to melt in your mouth, and icy slushies and snow cones to thaw you out, there’s lots to love.

Hot chips, hot dogs, soft drinks and lots of smiles!

The first of two Rotary Clubs here, Maryborough-Sunrise Rotary Club, offers a wide variety of snack food, with profits going right back into the community of Maryborough. Stop by and take a quick rest under their shaded seating area, and purchase a soft drink, gluten free hot chips and a hot dog.

Sausage Sizzle!

Not a hot dog person? Well, at Maryborough City Rotary Club, there’s something sizzling right up your alley. Head over if you want a sausage, a burger, cold drinks or Smiths chips. And for anyone in The Mall today, come in and you’ll find egg and bacon muffins especially made for Future Scout Day.

Keep calm and eat Dutch Pancakes

Wanting something worldly? Maybe Poffertjes, or Mini Dutch Pancakes are the way to go! Bec, who was a past Brownie in Girl Guides, has been running her Dutch Pancakes van for 13 years at many big events, and is very happy to be here serving all of you. So, at any time of the day, yes even late in the evenings, you can grab yourself a plate! For more info, you can check out Bec’s Facebook page.

No Gluten Pollutin’

Now, right outside the mini arena, you can find yourself tasty treats made for everyone! Led by Louise and David, G-Free Donuts have been selling in markets since 2022. For the locals, you may spot them at markets such as Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay and Pomona Country. So, no matter your gluten tolerance, if you’re hungry for some donuts, come down and enjoy a wonderful snack.

Finally, we have some more special guests for Future Scout Day. Check out the Mr Whippy, Hot Baked Potatoes, Cockatoo Coffee and Caffeine Fix vendors for some more variety to your Mall trips.

Now that you know all the stalls, be sure to have Your Mall Quest Your Way! See you in the next one Scouts!
